It's December!

This week, in math we focused on ordinal numbers.  The students did a really good job with this for the most part.  Here, students made rows of stickers.  Then, they manipulated their "doors" to show me which sticker was first, second, third and so on in line.

In language arts this week, we focused on the letter Cc.  We read lots of books by Jan Brett, and continued to practice making predictions.  What good predictors they are!  We learned the sight words: come, cat, just.  In small group, many of us learned how to "buddy read."  Here we are trying out our new skills:

In unit study, we learned all about the difference between needs and wants.  We learned that people have to earn money and then make choices about their purchases.  This was a great time of the year to discuss wants since many students had lots of examples (Christmas lists ;).

COMING UP....This week is Gingerbread Week!

In Math....We will be doing lots of graphing, patterning and reviewing while incorporating lots of gingerbread themed activities.

In Language Arts....... We will be focusing on the letter Nn, reading many different versions of the Gingerbread Man story, and predicting what will happen in each one.  We will also learn the sight words:  house, no, big, in.

In unit study..... We will be learning about many holiday traditions (Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa), and how different people celebrate them.

Here's to an exciting week!!
