In unit study we learned how to tell if something is living or non-living. One way we compared living and non-living was to observe gummy worms
....and then earthworms!
In language arts we focused on the letter Xx. We learned the sight words: red, yellow, blue. We also read books and summarized them. For our new student of the day rotation, we are practicing writing letters/notes by writing to our friends.
In math we continued to learn about and practice addition. Some students are going above and beyond by adding numbers even bigger than 10! Here are some students using counters to see how many more it takes to make 20.
Looking forward to next week.....
In unit study we will begin learning about plants and their life cycle.
In language arts, we will focus on the letter Yy. Our new sight words will be: you, so, get. We will continue using our awesome summarizing skills!
In math, we will be learning about the opposite of addition: subtraction! We will begin with a few very introductory lessons in which we tell stories where numbers are "taken away."
Have a great week!
