In unit study, we completed our unit on community helpers. On Friday, we used our imaginations and pretended to be some of the community helpers that we learned about. Here are our bakers baking:
The builders building:
The doctors doctoring:
And the teachers teaching:
In language arts, we read books about Ladybug Girl and her friends. These were perfect stories for Making Connections since Halloween is right around the corner. Lulu dresses up like Ladybug Girl and many of the students were planning to dress up soon. We focused on the letter Oo, and learned the sight words: go, no, so. We are also learning what a complete sentence is and practicing writing them.
In math, we learned about and reviewed the 4 basic shapes: circle, square, triangle and rectangle. We learned to describe them and explain about their positions.
On Friday, we had our school-wide Pumpkin Day. We participated in some fun activities to celebrate the occasion. We played with pumpkin pie playdough:
We made spider hats:
And we carved pumpkins and explored the inside of them:
Looking forward to next week....
In unit study we will be focusing on position words with a special emphasis on the words: above, below, right, left, in front of, behind, near, far.
In language arts, we will be focusing on the letter Aa. We will be reading books about MICE and making text to text connections. We will learn the sight words an, as, am, and we will continue to practice writing sentences.
In math, we will be focusing on graphing. We will also be completing our 9 weeks math checkpoint assessment.
Have a great week!
