The students had a great time at Grand Lunch on Friday. It was great to see so many parents, grandparents and friends visit! All students seemed to enjoy the atmosphere, whether they had guests or not :) Here are a few of the students with their families (I missed a couple families--they ate too quickly :)

In language arts this week, we read books about mice....
And practiced making text to self connections and text to text connections. Making connections is an important skill for readers. It helps them comprehend the text when they relate it to their life or another story.
We also learned all about the letter Aa. We learned the sight words as, am, an.....and we practiced writing sentences.
In math this week, we were busy completing our 1st 9 weeks math checkpoint assessment to see if we mastered all the things we've learned about this quarter. We also learned about graphing. Here we are making an object graph with our favorite math tub items:

We also worked on our number sense by putting numbers in order from smallest to largest:

In unit study, we will finish our study of position words.
In language arts, we will be focusing on the letter Dd. We will read books about the silly Mrs. McNosh. We will continue to make connections, specifically text-to-world connections. We will learn the sight words: to, do. Finally, we will continue to work to write a complete sentence.
In math, we will learn about the terms "equal" and "not equal."
