This week, in math, we practiced creating lots of object graphs. On Monday, we used our pumpkin patch pumpkins and sorted them into groups with stems and groups without stems.
Then, we put them in rows so we could see which group had more. The stemmed pumpkins had MORE. The no-stems had FEWER.
We also sorted our apples by color and turned them into an object graph.
The students had lots of individual practice as well, using their math tubs to create their own object graphs.
We even graphed our shoes one day!
In language arts we focused on the letter Ss. We read lots of stories, and tried to make text to self connections and text to self connections. The students are doing a great job with this!
In unit study, we continued to talk about the season of Fall, and explored the apples the students brought in.
We also had a special visit from the fire department this week. We learned about fire safety and how to get help from a firefighter if needed.
Mr. Goetz even joined in the fun and climbed up the BIG ladder!
Friday was Book Character Day. The students loved seeing one another's costumes and sharing their books with their friends.
In math we will be focusing on the teen numbers (10-15). We will be writing them, making groups of teens and comparing groups.
In language arts, we will be focusing on the letter Tt. We will also focus on the sight words: to, that, they.
In unit study, we will be talking about American symbols and Veteran's Day.
