And Now It's April!

We enjoyed a full, busy, learning-filled week this week in Room 105. 

In math, we completed our nine weeks assessment and participated in many different math stations in small groups.

In language arts, we also did some assessing.  In small groups, we enjoyed playing some games like this one (Roll, Say, Keep):



We also got to meet our new grade-level reading dog "George." 


George is a long-haired chihuahua.  He is a trained and registered therapy dog who is owned by Mr. Bruce.  George was rescued from a puppy mill and is three years old.  The students were so excited to meet him and can't wait to start to read to him on Mondays. 

 


 We got a sneak peek of first grade this week as well!  Mrs. Lenz's class visited to read us books they had created about plants.  Each first grader read to a member of our class and then asked questions to see if we were listening.  Next, the kindergarteners signed their name to the book. 

 
 
 
 
In unit study, we learned all about magnets.  Here, we explored with magnets, seeing what things they "stuck" to and what things they didn't.  We even found out that magnets worked through paper and even through tables if they were strong enough.

 Looking forward to next week:

In math we will be doing some review activities and stations that incorporate our Spring/Easter theme for next week.

In language arts, we will be focusing on the letter Xx.  We will continue to read fiction and non-fiction books and compare and contrast the two. 

In unit study we will be talking about the season of Spring.  We will also prepare for Easter and have a Spring celebration on Friday.
