This week while at recess we saw a truck pull up carrying some new playground equipment. This was super exciting to see being delivered and we can't wait to play on the new climber!
We also had our chorus concert this week. It was lots of fun for all! Here we are all lined up and ready to go to our "dress rehearsal" for the 1st graders on Tuesday morning:

On Thursday, we had a special performance of The Tortoise and the Hare brought to us by Virginia Repertory Theatre. We really enjoyed the show:
This week in unit study we finished our study of famous Americans. The six main Americans that we are required to cover in kindergarten are Chief Powhatan, Pocahontas, George Washington, Betsy Ross, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. The students did a great job learning about these people from the past.
In language arts, we focused on the letter Ww. When reading stories, we learned about problem/solution. We also applied this to our day to day life. We learned the sight words: where, with, down. We also finished up our "Student of the Day show and tell rotation."
In math, we finished our unit on clocks and time. Hopefully all students are able to tell time to the hour now on both analog and digital clocks.

In unit study we will be introducing maps and globes.
In language arts we will be focusing on the letter Jj. We will be reading non-fiction texts and comparing them to fiction. We will learn the sight words: up, do, not, what.
In math this week, we will be learning about coins and money. We will learn how to recognize different coins and their value.
