In unit study the past two weeks we learned all about maps and models. We learned that maps are birds' eye views of where something is located. We made this classroom map, and the students made their own individual map booklets to see why maps are important.
In language arts, we focused on the letters Jj and Vv. We also learned the sight words: up, do, not, what, very, said, play, of. We learned about the difference between fiction and non-fiction. We also learned how to summarize a fictional story with the beginning, middle and end.
We finished up our One School, One Book program on Friday with a great finale Friday evening. It was good to see so many of you there!
In math, we learned about the four main coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter). We learned their values and how to count groups of coins. The students are somewhat of pros at this, since Mrs. Evers has been helping them count their coins for classroom store all year ;). Here are some students playing a Coin Exchange Game.
Looking forward to next week....
In unit study we will be learning about Spring and celebrating Easter.
In language arts, we will be focusing on the letter Qq. We will learn the sight words: one, two, three, jump. We will also continue to practice summarizing.
In math, we will be reviewing concepts covered during this 9 weeks, with a special emphasis on graphing. We will also be completing our 9 weeks math CPA (Check point assessment).
Have a great week!
