Weeks 17 & 18

Here are two friends playing a new math game called numbers undercover.  They roll two dice, add the numbers together and then uncover the number to match.  Winner uncovers all numbers first.
During week 17 in unit study we finished our unit about winter.  We had fun discussing snow and winter activities.

In language arts, we focused on the letter Uu.  We learned the sight words: run, runs, up.  We read non-fiction books about winter and made predictions about them.

In math, we will be focused on recognizing and counting sets of the numbers 10-20.

During week 18 in unit study we began discussing matter, specifically water.  We learned that water has three forms: solid, liquid and gas.

In language arts, we focused on the letter Ss.  We learned the sight words: said, some, see, saw.  We read books and focused on the characters in a story.

In math, we learned about measurement and the tools we use to measure different things.

Looking forward to next week....

In unit study we will be completing our unit about water.

In language arts, we will focus on the letter Bb.  We will learn the sight words: but, back, by.  We will be reading classic fairy tales such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.  We will continue to focus on the characters in the story.

In math, we will continue learning about measurement.  This week we will specifically be discussing length and the tools we use to measure length.

Have a great week!
