Weeks 30/31

This week we learned about social insects such as ants and bees.  These insects live and work together (kind of like us!).  Students worked with a partner to do some research on ant colonies and draw a diagram of one.  Then, they shared their drawings with the class.  They did a great job!

We incorporated insects into our math work this week by creating ladybugs.  Later, we painted spots on each wing and counted the total (addition practice!).
We used play dough to practice power work this week.  We do all we can to orally, visually and kinesthetically transfer these words to our memory.  The more we learn, the easier it will be for us to read!

Looking forward to next week...

In language arts/science research lab, we will continue our entomology study by learning about spiders!

In math, we will begin subtraction.

Have a great week!
