Week 30

In unit study this week we learned the difference between living and non-living.  We looked at pictures of various things and decided if we would classify them as living or non-living.  Some of them were a little tricky! Here we are giving a thumbs up if we think the rock is living and a thumbs down if we think it is non-living.

In math, we learned about addition.  We used our brand new projector to watch a song called "When You Add With a Pirate" and added on our white boards along with the song.

In our math small groups, we focused on number bonds such as ways to make 4.  Some students showed 2+2=4 some showed 1+3 and some showed 4+0.  We learned that there are many ways to make numbers.  This will help us learn and understand our addition facts:

In reading we read stories about turtles, both fiction and non-fiction.  We completed our summarizing unit.  We focused on the letter Zz and learned the sight words:  new, now, good, help.

Looking forward to next week...

In unit study we will be learning about plants and their life cycle.

In math, we will continue to learn about addition.

In language arts we will focus on the digraph "SH" and the sound that it makes.  We will learn the sight words: she, did, eat, ate.  We will be reading stories about soup/cooking and learning that good readers ask questions before, during and after reading.

Have a great week!
