Week 32

We had another great and BUSY week!  With just 29 days to go, it's not going to get any more relaxed either.  Here's what we've been up to:

We had lots of fun with "Fancy Day" (our compliment reward).  The students dressed in their very best and did a fashion show that morning, complete with model poses.  Although a few friends were too shy to show off, most gave in and walked the runway.  Here are their fancy poses:

Even Mrs. Waibel joined in the fun!!

Our Apex Fun Run was also this week!  We began by eating a picnic lunch in the hallway:

Then we lined up in the cafeteria/gym:

And we ran and ran!!

When we were finished, our dream team member, Amasa, helped us stretch it out:

Since we were the highest pledging class the day before, some of our super leaders in the class got to silly string and pie in the face two dream team members:

Meanwhile, we were also doing quite a bit of learning this week.

In unit study, we completed our plant unit.  We will still be watching our bean seeds as the continue to grow over the next week or so.

In math, we are continuing to be math geniuses as we learn more and more about adding numbers.

In language arts, we read books about lunCH and focused on the Ch sound.  We continued to practice our questioning skills and recognizing the difference between a sentence and a question. Our sight words were: his, her, had, him.  We played this fun game called "build it" in our small groups.  Each student picks up a card with a cube on top.  If they can read the word, they add the cube to their tower.  If they can't, we help them read it, but they have to put it back and it's fair game for someone else to pick up.  The students love this game!

 Looking forward to next week...

In math, we will finish our addition unit.

In language arts, we will focus on the digraph Th.  We will read books about outer space and continue to practice questioning.  Our sight words are: then, this, that, them, with.

In unit study, we will begin learning about animals and their life cycles.  Perfect timing!  These guests showed up to our classroom on Friday:
